PSA Grading and Authentication
PSA grading and authentication set the industry standard for sports cards and collectibles. Through PSA certification services, items are authenticated, assigned a numerical grade based on condition, and sealed in a tamper-evident holder with a unique certification number.
Collectors pursue PSA grading to document condition, reduce market uncertainty, and protect long-term value.
Certified items carry stronger credibility in auctions, private sales, and insurance documentation.
As PSA’s Lead Appraiser, Michael Osacky understands this process from the inside. Through Baseball in the Attic, he provides independent appraisals of PSA-graded and authenticated material, translating certification data and population reports into clear, defensible market value.

Appraisal Process for
PSA Graded Items
Baseball in the Attic works with people facing important decisions around trading card collections — from inheritance and insurance to legal matters and long-term planning.
Step 1
Item Already with PSA
Your card or collection is graded, authenticated, or held in the PSA Vault.
Step 2
High-Resolution Review
PSA or client provides high-resolution certification images and documentation directly to Michael for evaluation.
Step 3
Independent Valuation
Michael conducts a full appraisal using PSA grading data, population reports, and market comparables, without requiring you to retrieve or reship your items.
Step 4
Formal Report Issued
A signed appraisal report is prepared on official letterhead and delivered for insurance, estate, legal, or planning purposes.
Turnaround varies by item or number of items to be appraised and is typically approximately 30 days following grading or authentication.
Meet Michael, the
“Dean of Cracker Jack Baseball Cards”
Michael Osacky.
PSA’s Lead Appraiser, USPAP-compliant, Accredited Member of the International Society of Appraisers (ISA)
Michael Osacky’s love for the hobby began with a shoebox of baseball cards passed down from his grandfather — cards tucked away, saved carefully, and cherished long before anyone thought about market value. That early spark grew into decades spent immersed in sports history, handling rare collections, and understanding how condition, context, and provenance shape worth. Today, he is known as the “Dean of Cracker Jack Baseball Cards,” a title given by Forbes Magazine, and is arguably the world’s leading sports memorabilia appraiser.
No Sales Motive. No Consignments.
No Conflicts of Interest.
Baseball in the Attic is not an auction house. Nothing is bought or sold. There is no incentive to inflate, deflate, or steer value in any direction. Every appraisal is handled personally, with care, clarity, and professional rigor — so clients can understand what they have, what it’s worth, and why it matters.
Start Your Appraisal Now and Know Your Collection’s Worth!
Every collection tells a story — from ticket stubs and shoebox cards to game-used bats and autographs kept for decades. Work directly with Michael Osacky to understand the meaning and true value of your sports card or sports memorabilia collection.
